All homeowners will be receiving their HOA Board ballots in their mailbox. Included in the ballot are the candidates' statements.
The candidates were not given the opportunity in their statements to identify the challenges facing our HOA and how they are qualified to address these challenges for our future. The meet your candidate forum has past. Were you satisfied with the questions presented and the candidates answers? Are there other challenges facing our community that need to be addressed? Here are some examples:
The Blog welcomes your comments on the listed challenges above. What other challenges are important to you?

I went to the Candidate forum. I was quite satisfied with the questions. In my opinion most, if not all, of the issues raised in the blog were addressed at the Candidate forum

I find very little "satisfying" with this Board.

Are owners at DP approving or not approving the Bylaws Amendment? What is the best interest of the owners?

DO NOT APPROVE! There is nothing wrong with having 1 year contracts, we do not want 5 year contracts.

We do not have nearly enough in the Reserve fund for anything substantial. The amount of waste I've observed in the last four years, on study after study, huge expensive presentations, with no follow through because they were stupid ideas to begin with, the pushing through and expenditure of $40,000 (maybe more) on plans for a complete rebuild of a fitness center that just needs refurbishing, which is still "in the works" and will cost close to a million dollars, and then the board conversation a few months ago regarding our underground water tanks and the pumps, which is going to be WAY more expensive that they are telling us ....I'm thinking the financial problems are going to lead to special assessments. More people will be selling and values will be going down. I'm not optimistic....I was the FIRST person to learn WHY Fannie and Freddie are NOT backing loans here in DP - and that it because we are not considered a RESIDENTIAL COMMUNITY. And that is because the present board - over the last - who knows how many years, has taken our (Desert Princess "residential" HOA money) and used it to pay for losses incurred by the poorly managed "commercial enterprise called the Country Club. The board members and Jerry Storage, manager, act clueless about all this, saying "raising the dues to make things better will preserve our property values" and people - that's a crock of BS. They have screwed things up beyond fixable. - BUT the only two candidate who are the voices of reason, and could POTENTIALLY, begin to stop the WASTEFUL SPENDING and stupid decisions - are Sue Bergstrom and Tom Moen. And then we need to do the same thing NEXT YEAR and get some more new GOOD board members. Or we are screwed.....we don't need nice people who will "follow" the recommendations of the present board members. We need STRONG board members who can see through the BS and maybe even change some other minds. We do not need the voting to be 5-2, 5-2, 5-2 in favor of waste and stupidity. We need them to change minds.......I urge you all to vote SMART - it is the only way to save our future here at DP! Vote Sue and Tom.
