Committee positions open

-The election is over and the board is now asking for volunteers to join each of the committees.   in the past,  the president reviews the applications for committee positions and makes the decision on who will be on each of the committees.
A majority of the positions are filled by the same individuals every year.

Each of the board's committees act as advisors to the board.  The committees make one or more recommendations to the board.  The board will then decide either to accept, table or request further refinement from the committee.

If you feel that you have knowledge and experience and a desire to shape the future of our HOA , please submit an application for one or more of the following committees:

Architectural & Landscape
Welcome
Community Design Advisory
Golf Operations
Golf Tournament
Events
Library
Communications
Pool
Short Term Vacation Rental

Together we can shape the future of our HOA by:

-  Getting involved in the decision making processes of the board
-  Making sure that homeowners desires and values are being communicated to the board
-  Being involved in board decisions
-  Helping the board continue to be transparent

If you have not received the email with an attached committee application, contact the HOA at 760-322-1907.
Applications must be received at the HOA by March 15th.

Looks like the Board is already trying to stack a committee. The newly formed Condo Garage Electrical Committee was not included as option in the list of committees that homeowners can join. The Board of director summary from 3/3/21 states "Discussed personnel for possible membership on the newly formed Ad-Hoc Condo Garage Electrical Committee". Looks like they do not want to hand pick another committee. So much for transparency!!!

Just curious as to how people are selected. My neighbor applied and wasn’t even interviewed. Seems like maybe they already know that the same individuals each year and that’s what they want?

I was on the ALC last year after being actively “recruited” by the president, and a new Board member. A few members on that committee really worked very hard , but for most it was simply just an extension of the existing Board - not willing to accept a lot of new ideas, except maybe from their “friends”. I applied, and was not selected for this years ALC. I have to say that I am not disappointed.

My name is Char Bland. I applied for the ALC position, and my application was submitted to the ALC Committee but was not selected at the Board during the July 30 Executive Session meeting.
it was met with absolute opposition by the Board majority. It seems that the ALC chairman had already handpicked his nominee- someone who had never expressed any interest in the job. In addition to possessing no clear qualifications for the position, this individual was cited three years ago for a significant ALC rule violation. The violation remains in place today. Nevertheless, the Board ultimately appointed him by a 5 to 2 vote.

Join the club of us excluded committee applicants.

We are not one of the chosen inner circle cronies that are on the committees year after year.
