an opportunity to see how the board operates

The following items are on the agenda for the next board meeting on August 27th at 1:30 PDT

I. Proposal To Reduce 2021-2022 Rental Application Fee
       1. Revised Rental Application Fee 2021 2022.docx.pdf

J. Rental Fee Increase & Transponder Fee Increase
       1. Resolution Re Fee lncreases.docx.pdf
        2. Emails to Homeowners re Fee lncreases.docx.pdf

To date,  the HOA has not released any data supporting both the 400% Rental Fee increase or the 100% transponder Fee increase.

The HOA states that there was "study's"  done to support both  Fee increases.  All attempts to get any information from the HOA is met with responses of  nothing can be released do to "privacy"  or our lawyers told us that we do not have to release any data,

So where are we today?
  • Will the Board reverse/reduce the increase in fees  or will they hold fast to the increases in fees?
  • Will the Homeowners see  the supporting data to justify the increases or be told again that they are not required to justify the increases?
  • Will the Board listen to the homeowners and respect their opinions or just dismiss us?

If you are interested in this issue and/or you want to understand how seriously the board feels about representing the homeowners, attend the board meeting.

I have been on a number of Boards in my life and know how boards work. In my view the Board's job at the DP is to set overall policy and to make decisions in accordance with the governing documents. I wish that you folks would just let the Board do its job. There is no reason for the Board to go into the kind of detail that you seem to want.

"Let the Board do its job" That is exactly what we are trying to do. 1. The Homeowners have the right to know how their money are being used. 2. The BOD's decisions are creating separate groups of owners 3. BOD actions are discriminatory and may be against Federal and State housing laws.

Please show me in our governing documents where it says the board can raise fees without real justification. Not knowing you my bet is you are a golfer and a pal of some of the board members As long as nothing happens to the golf course everything is smooth sailing at Desert Prince Palm Springs.

We already have separate groups of people within our community. Renters who are long term, short term etc. Moot point. The fees that are being imposed are Income to our community. They are not taxes on anyone as implied. First, the transponder fees: our transponder fees are free for two automobiles per household. The $100 fee is for a transponder. As to the rental fee increase: Is long overdue because rental properties, especially rental properties take up an inordinate amount of our security resources. I also have been on numerous boards. This is a blog full of hiting ast outrage. It shouldn't be. I agree with Let the Board due its job. If you want to see where our monies come and go, then the look at the budget that is open to all.

Rumors are running rampant at DPCC. Will the board reverse the exorbitant rental and transponder fees this Friday at the board meeting. Or will they ignore it and avoid it at all costs?

I am begging everyone to speak up by email to the HOA by end of day Thursday or in person on Friday. This may be our last chance to have the fees repealed!

Have you looked at the state regulations governing HOAs and is the board in compliance with those regulations?

Good Morning
I plan on being at the meeting tomorrow. Thank you so much for putting this blog together so we have transparency on the board and HOAs to see how decisions affect homeowners. If you are at the meeting tomorrow, I would love to meet you.
My number is (310)927-2552. I would love to learn more about the board members and the decisions being made at Desert Princess and you seem to be very knowledgeable about the subject

I am very concerned about the dues that keep rising.. home values and DPCC community reputation inevitably on a straight decline..
I bought in 2019 and picked my lot because it is 250 ft from Pool / jacuzzi. Pool and jacuzzi redone and finished 3 weeks ago yet gate remains locked. I have called HOA 3 times and they tell me they dont know anything. I wouldnt be so angry if there were some honest communication given by management… with out honest communication i feel like the Board is just using us owners as their piggy bank! Please provide answers and stop hiding from the truth..we need a sense of community or this place may become a place of foreclosure.

"Home values declining"? Have you seen the real estate listings lately for DP, including the pending?

How many board members have rentals?

From what I am told, none. They are all villa owners so condo owners, much less owners/rental owners/those that rent to subsidize costs are NOT represented.

Fran Moyer, you stated that the rental fees were income for our community. Wrong. The fees are paid by home owners in our community. They are a tax on a segment of our community. You also stated that the fees on rentals were neccessary because that is where all the problems stem from. I don't believe there is any evidence to suggest that is true. The board and Management Trust could not provide any such evidence despite being repeatively requested to do so. The board and MT can always find new ways to spend our money. They prove that over and over again.
